Prescription & E-Prescription Policy

Effective Date: February 11, 2025

1. Introduction

This Prescription & E-Prescription Policy defines the guidelines for issuing, handling, and using electronic prescriptions (e-prescriptions) through Tr 2nd Opinion (https://2nd.thinkroman.com). This policy follows Telemedicine Practice Guidelines, 2020, and the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.

2. Prescription Guidelines

  • ✅ Only Registered Medical Practitioners (RMPs) on Tr Mobile CARE can issue prescriptions.
  • ✅ E-prescriptions will be provided in digital format and sent via email/SMS or made available in the patient’s account.
  • ✅ Doctors must include their NMC registration number on every prescription.
  • 🚫 Patients should not alter or misuse e-prescriptions.

3. Categories of Prescribable Medications

  • Allowed (List A - Permitted via Telemedicine)
    Common over-the-counter (OTC) drugs, first-line treatments for common conditions, and follow-up medications for chronic diseases.
  • Restricted (List B - Only for Follow-Up Consultations)
    Medicines requiring a prior in-person consultation or periodic monitoring.
  • 🚫 Prohibited (Schedule X, Narcotics, Habit-Forming Drugs)
    Narcotic drugs, habit-forming medications, Schedule X drugs, and medications requiring a physical examination before prescription.

4. Validity & Usage of E-Prescriptions

✅ E-prescriptions issued via Tr 2nd Opinion are valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated.

✅ Only registered pharmacies should fulfill e-prescriptions.

🚫 Altering or sharing prescriptions with others is strictly prohibited.

5. Prescription Refill Policy

For chronic conditions, repeat prescriptions will be provided only if a follow-up consultation is completed. Refills for medications will be limited based on the doctor’s discretion.

6. Data Security & Confidentiality

All e-prescriptions are stored in encrypted servers as per DPDP Act, 2023. Tr 2nd Opinion does not share prescription details with third parties unless legally required.

7. Patient Responsibilities

  • ✅ Use prescriptions only for personal medical needs.
  • ✅ Purchase medications from licensed pharmacies only.
  • ✅ Follow prescribed dosages and instructions carefully.
  • 🚫 Do not modify or tamper with prescriptions.
  • 🚫 Do not use prescriptions for non-medical purposes.
  • 🚫 Do not share prescriptions with others.

8. Doctor Responsibilities

  • ✅ Ensure medical necessity before prescribing.
  • ✅ Provide clear dosage instructions.
  • ✅ Follow medical ethics and prescription guidelines.
  • ✅ Refuse prescriptions where telemedicine is not appropriate.

9. Reporting Prescription Misuse

Suspected prescription fraud or misuse must be reported to contact@thinkroman.com. Violations may result in account suspension and legal action.
